Our history...

Three Rivers Worship Center is in it's 55th year of ministry. Originally called Southside Church of God, located on 4119 Lafayette Street, the church began back in 1954 by Reverend Doyle and Audrey Snodderly. 18 pastors all together have served the church over it's 49 year history, with Bishop Terry and Cindy Owens being the current pastors. In 1992 the Church was renamed Maranatha Church of God, during the pastorate of Reverend Charles Walters and on November 1, 2009 the church voted unanimously to change our name to Three Rivers Worship Center, tying us more to the community.

In 1997 we purchased property and moved to it's current location at 2401 Curdes Avenue. We believe as we change our name to Three Rivers Worship Center, our best years are still ahead and we wait expectantly every week to see what God is going to do next.

Where do we see our church going?

Our VisionWe believe that God has called us to be a premier Pentecostal Church, one where people can come and experience the presence and power of God, Where signs, wonders and miracles will be regular occurrences. This is a key to our vision and the plans that we have.

As a premier Pentecostal church, our goal as a church is to lead and impact our region, the city of Fort Wayne and our denomination. Our desire is for us to become a resource church where other pastors and churches can be encouraged and trained on how to see their church grow and become the church that God envisions them to be.

Our vision is that members will see that they are more than members, but missionaries. Not as missionaries to overseas countries, but missionaries to our city…that we will begin to reach our city by winning one home at a time. As we win homes, that turns into neighborhoods, and as neighborhoods are won, that becomes our city.  Souls will be our passion, ministering to the hurting will be our burden. I believe that God is going to cause spiritual sons and daughters to flock to our church. Not only is our heart to reach our community but reach countries around the world by supporting World Missions. Our goal is to have a million dollar World Missions budget.

Our vision is to provide those who attend an opportunity to freely worship God and have a meaningful worship experience that will impact each person in our services.

Our vision is to provide quality ministry, not only to the adults but also to teens and children. We have a vision to set up an after school center where neighborhood children can come and receive help with home work and a snack…in return that becomes an inroad into their lives.

Our vision is to develop healthy, growing and thriving people in the Kingdom of God.

What we Believe

Declaration of Faith:

The Church of God believes the whole Bible to be completely and equally inspired and that it is the written Word of God. The Church of God has adopted the following Declaration of Faith as its standard and official expression of its doctrine.

We Believe:

In the verbal inspiration of the Bible.

  • In one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

  • That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Ghost, and born of the Virgin Mary. That Jesus was crucified, buried, and raised from the dead. That He ascended to heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father as the Intercessor.

  • That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins.

  • That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.

  • In sanctification subsequent to the new birth, through faith in the blood of Christ; through the Word, and by the Holy Ghost.

  • Holiness to be God's standard of living for His people.

  • In the baptism with the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart.

  • In speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

  • In water baptism by immersion, and all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

  • Divine healing is provided for all in the atonement.

  • In the Lord's Supper and washing of the saints' feet.

  • In the pre-millennial second coming of Jesus. First, to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air. Second, to reign on the earth a thousand years.

  • In the bodily resurrection; eternal life for the righteous, and eternal punishment for the wicked.

A Brief History of the Church of God

It was 1886, in a crude meeting house on the Tennessee-North Carolina border, where the Church of God traces its roots. There, a group of eight sincere Christians had a deep desire for a closer relationship and life with Christ. Realizing the futility of reforming their own churches, they established a new church whose objective would be to restore sound scriptural doctrines of the Bible, encourage deeper consecration and promote evangelism and Christian service. Twenty-one years after the formation of the Christian Union that evening at the Barney Creek Meeting House, the growing movement would establish themselves permanently as the Church of God.

From this seemingly insignificant origin has grown one of the most influential worldwide Pentecostal denominations. For nearly 120 years the Church of God has been a distinctive movement focused upon communicating the gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit. Presently, the Church of God has a world-wide membership of over 6 million with a presence in nearly 150 countries. Leaders of the Church of God are recognized as some of the most respected Pentecostal leaders of today.

The call of the Church of God today beckons back to those early days at Barney Creek. Church of God congregations around the globe are experiencing the fire of the Holy Spirit today more than ever. Reports of revivals where hundreds are saved and filled with the Holy Spirit are frequent and on-going. The call of the Church of God is for world evangelization. It is a call to discipleship and prayer. It is a call of commitment. It is a call for the Church of God to be a channel for Pentecostal revival well into the new millennium.
